Some online features depend on the app version.

2. What is ZYEA for?
ZYEA helps you keep your hair care organized. Log your washes and how your hair felt, find steps tailored to your answers, and keep track of your lengths, haircuts, and photos. You can also read hair care tips.
Suggested dates can always be changed. Tips depend on what you enter. ZYEA doesn’t guarantee faster hair growth or any specific result.
3. Access and ZYEA Pro
ZYEA includes free access and a ZYEA Pro plan. Without Pro, a single photo reading is included, once for life, and a free article is offered every Monday. If you have already used one or more included readings, none are left. The included reading allows 5 tries at most. Every try counts, even without a reading, for example after a service error. From the same network, tries for the included reading are also limited each week. With Pro, you get 6 photo readings a week, haircut ideas included, and 1 haircut try-on a week. The week runs from Monday to Sunday, Paris time: your readings and your try-on come back every Monday. Plans and prices are shown before you buy. These terms don’t set any prices or plan durations.
Without Pro, you can add 2 photos a month, including your first photo from the welcome. The month runs from the 1st to the last day, Paris time: from the 1st, you can add 2 more. The photos you’ve already taken stay visible, and nothing is deleted. With Pro, the number of photos isn’t limited. Their online backup keeps up to 200 photos per account for now: beyond that, new ones stay on your phone. Photo readings keep their own limits, set out above.
Payment is handled through your Apple account. ZYEA never sees your payment details. A subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it before the end of the period. You can cancel it in the subscriptions section of your Apple account. Deleting your ZYEA account does not cancel a subscription. You can request a refund from Apple, subject to its policies. Your legal consumer rights still apply.
You can use the tracking without creating an account. An Apple or Google account is required to buy or restore ZYEA Pro. With that verified account, your tracking is backed up online automatically, with or without Pro, up to 1 MiB (1,048,576 bytes). Backing up new photos requires an active ZYEA Pro. Your comfort notes, which are health information, are backed up only with your explicit consent, which you can withdraw in Settings without deleting your account. The same account finds its tracking again; a new account continues the welcome and creates its space on the first save. After Pro expires, your tracking keeps being backed up and read. Photos already backed up stay visible; no new photo is backed up. You are told before signing in. The free photo reading without Pro uses a technical identity, separate from this account.
While you’re signed in, the online backup is automatic: there’s nothing to turn on or stop. To erase your online copy, delete your account: “Settings”, at the very bottom, “Delete my account”. When you sign out, your tracking and your photos stay on this phone, linked to your account: you’ll find them again when you sign back in. Another account signed in on this phone doesn’t see them. They go away when you delete your account or the app.
The one exception: your comfort notes. They join your backup only if you choose “Back them up too” on the “Your comfort notes” screen, or “Yes” in “Settings”, “Privacy”, “Comfort notes backed up”. You can answer “No” at any time in the same place: your account and the rest of your tracking stay as they are.
Some features require an internet connection. Online services may not always be available.
Minimum age: 18. The AI service that reads the photos, Google’s Gemini, requires it. By accepting these terms, you confirm you are at least 18. The welcome screen asks for your age range. ZYEA isn’t offered to people under 18: with that answer, the welcome stops and your answer isn’t kept. Your age range and the date of your answer stay on your phone. They don’t go into your tracking or online. They’re erased when your account or the app is deleted. The photo assistant is designed to reject photos of children. This automatic rejection is not a reliable age check.
4. Your acceptance and choices
You accept these terms and the privacy policy with one tap, under this sentence: “By continuing, you agree to the Terms of Use and Privacy Policy, including the reading of your photos by Gemini, Google’s AI.” It appears on the welcome screen, above “Later,” under “Continue with Apple” and “Continue with Google,” and on the sign-in screen. Tapping one of these buttons counts as acceptance, with or without an account. Both documents open with one tap from this sentence. Opening the app or leaving a choice blank doesn’t count as consent.
If you haven’t accepted yet on this phone, the same sentence appears under the button for your next photo, under the “Your haircut” buttons, or under the “Share my photos with AI” toggle. There, it ends with “including AI reading of your photos.” That tap counts as acceptance. No photo is sent to AI before it. If a new version of these documents changes what you accept, the sentence comes back once, the same way. If you had turned off AI reading of your photos, it also comes back under the button for your next photo: that tap accepts the new version, and the reading stays off.
Acceptance includes the reading of your photos by artificial intelligence (AI). Every photo taken in the Photos tab is then automatically sent to Gemini. Photos in your lengths journal stay on your phone. Photos used for haircuts are also sent to Gemini. Gemini is Google’s AI. This acceptance doesn’t replace the permissions requested by your phone.
You can stop AI from reading your photos at any time. The “Share my photos with AI” toggle is under “Settings,” “Privacy,” “My photos and AI.” Only that same toggle turns it back on. Stopping blocks future sends to AI. It doesn’t undo your acceptance of these terms or delete photos already saved or sent. The privacy policy explains your choices and how to delete information.
5. Care tracking, not a medical device
ZYEA is a hair care tracking app with general tips. ZYEA is not a medical device within the meaning of Regulation (EU) 2017/745. It doesn’t diagnose anything or prescribe any treatment. Its texts, readings and images don’t replace a healthcare professional.
Pain, irritation that lasts or unusual shedding deserves the advice of a doctor or pharmacist. In an emergency, call your local emergency number (911 in the US and Canada, 999 or 112 in the UK).
No products
ZYEA sells no products and recommends no brands. Its tips are about gestures and types of care, not a brand to buy. You remain responsible for the products you choose and how you use them. Read their instructions and follow their precautions, such as the allergy test before a hair color.
6. Features that use AI
These features work only when the photo service is available. Photos go through ZYEA’s service, hosted by Supabase. That service sends them to Gemini, Google’s AI, through the Gemini API. The exact recipients are listed in the privacy policy.
To look at your hair, the service receives the photo you choose. It may also receive your previous photo to compare them. It receives your hair type and your goal. Dated details about your photos and washes may be sent with them. This can also include relevant haircuts and notes about your ends. Findings from earlier photo reviews may be used as history. Your freeform notes, how your hair felt, and reports of discomfort are excluded. Keep in mind: anything visible in an image is part of what gets sent.
To suggest haircuts, the service receives your photo and your preferences for haircut, styling time, and face shape. It also receives your hair type and goal. To preview a haircut, it receives the image and the haircut you chose.
Photo reading by AI
A photo reading is for guidance only: the AI can be wrong, and its result varies with the light, the angle or the photo. A reading is not a diagnosis and does not measure a health condition. A try-on image is for guidance only: the real result depends on your hairdresser. ZYEA doesn’t try to identify you from these photos.
7. Your photos and content
You keep any rights you hold to your content. Add only content you’re allowed to use and share. For photo features, use a photo of yourself alone. Avoid private documents and images of other people.
The necessary use depends on the features you choose:
- keep your information and show it to you;
- back them up online if you choose to;
- send the authorized images to respond to your photo request.
This use doesn’t transfer ownership of your photos to ZYEA. The providers’ rules are explained in the privacy policy. Don’t assume that providers won’t retain them.
8. Use, limits, and responsibilities
Use ZYEA in a way that respects others’ rights. Don’t bypass access controls or service limits. Don’t use the app to send illegal content.
Check the information you add and the tips provided. A data entry mistake can change dates or tips. A network outage may prevent a backup or photo response. “Download my information,” at the very bottom of Settings, gives you a copy of your tracking in a file.
Limits of liability
To the extent permitted by Belgian consumer law, the publisher is not liable:
- for the care or product choices you make based on general tips;
- for an inaccurate photo reading or try-on image;
- for a temporary interruption of the online services, Apple, Google or the providers.
The publisher always remains liable for its intentional misconduct or gross negligence, and for death or personal injury caused by its fault. Your legal guarantees remain in full, including the legal guarantee of conformity of digital content.
No clause removes a legally required warranty. No clause excludes liability that the law doesn’t allow to be excluded.
9. Restricted access, stopping, and deletion
The photo service may reject an unusable or unauthorized image. It may also block a request that exceeds access limits. These limits help protect the service’s operation.
If there is serious or repeated misuse, the publisher may block an account or device from using online features. Examples include bypassing limits, attacking the service, or sending illegal content. Unless there is an emergency or a legal requirement, the publisher will notify you beforehand and explain why, if it can reach you. You can challenge this decision by writing to support@zyea.app. Tracking stored on your phone will still be available.
You can stop using ZYEA. You can delete tracking items from their screens. If you have an account, you can request its deletion in the app. Go to “Settings,” then “Delete my account” at the very bottom. You’ll need to confirm and sign in again to protect this action. Deleting your account won’t affect your separate guest profile. It can’t retrieve copies you’ve exported. The privacy policy lists retention periods and other limits.
10. The app’s intellectual property
The publisher owns the rights to ZYEA, including its name, text, images, and code. Third-party materials, such as fonts, icons, and code libraries, remain under their own licenses. You can use ZYEA’s available features. This does not transfer any rights to the app to you.
11. Governing law and contact
These terms are governed by Belgian law and European Union law. Any mandatory protections in your country of residence still apply. The court with jurisdiction depends on the applicable legal rules.
If you have a problem, first write to support@zyea.app. The publisher will work with you to find an amicable solution. If your written complaint remains unresolved, you can contact the Consumer Mediation Service for free at mediationconsommateur.be.
For the app downloaded from the App Store, Apple’s standard license also applies: apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula. These terms are between you and ZYEA’s publisher, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for ZYEA or its content. If ZYEA fails to meet an applicable warranty, Apple may refund the purchase price. Apple has no other warranty obligations to you for ZYEA. Apple and its subsidiaries may enforce these terms.
You must be informed of any important changes. Any new use of your information requires appropriate notice.
